The bzipped images ( .bz2) are VirtualBox virtual machine images. Decompress the bzipped image, then point VirtualBox at it as a machine. It is an 8GB virtual hard disc with inx installed and (hopefully) ready to go... Because it is a sparse file it compresses down to this size, but expanded it takes about ~700MB. Obviously this can be increased up to 8GB, if you install extras or put other data on the VirtualBox disc image. Note that this does not log in automatically - as it is a virtual "hard drive install" it just boots to a login prompt on all tty virtual terminals ( tty1-tty6) When you log in you get the corresponding menu (see end of ~/.profile). Log in as: inx Password: inx Might be an idea to change the password with "passwd inx" to something sane, once you have it running ;) Hint: log in on all of tty[1-6] , and save machine state before shutting VirtualBox , if you prefer quick starts and no login...
